4. The Kingdom of Niaafjäll

We finished the final room at the castle today. Jötnar is quite skilled with an ax, and as I had hoped, his speech has begun to return. Not so with his memories yet, but give it time. He is especially facile with animals and their names and habits – most notably the wolves. He seems very fond of the wolves.

The castle is little more than an ice cabin built for a giant. There is a grand hall, of course, two anterooms off of each side of it, a kitchen and dining hall are located behind the throne and a sleeping chamber in the far rear. I am particularly proud of the work I did on the entrance hall. This shaman still remembers how to wield a staff.

Jötnar has both great strength and adept fine motor skills. He labored very hard and seemed delighted with the challenge. He wants to build something in the grand hall – a platform, or an altar or something. He’s not quite able to articulate exactly what he wants, but perhaps this desire is a sign that his memories are coming back to him.

There is very generous Maple in the woods to the east of Vinterstad. It would make for a splendid set of doors for the Grand Hall.
